Lima - Huacachina - Paracas - Nazca - Arequipa - Colca Canyon - Puno - Titicaca Lake - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Amazonia - Lima
We have prepared for you this complete program that will not only take you to the most important places in Peru, but also will let you submerge into its culture, cuisine, everyday life, its history and natural beauties without rushing you in your trip to enjoy everything to the maximum.
We will visit the royal city of Incas, Cusco. We will also experience the Amazonian jungle while visiting the Tambopata National Reserve and get to know the life of the communities on the world's highest navigable lake - Titicaca. We will enjoy the sailing Andean Condors in the Colca Canyon. We will get familiar with the history of the "White City" - Arequipa and its Juanita - the frozen mummy of young Inca girl sacrificed to the Incas Gods. We will fly over mysterious lines and shapes in the desert of Nazca. We will take a boat around the Ballestas Islands in the Pacific Ocean and a ride in the buggies in the desert dunes around Huacachina Oasis. And after getting back to Lima, we will learn to prepare the most famous Peruvian dishes and we will taste the world-famous Peruvian alcoholic beverage Pisco.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO LIMA
Arrival to Lima and transfer to our hotel.
DAY 2: LIMA - PARACAS - HUACACHINA
Early in the morning, we take the bus to Paracas where we will take a boat trip along the Ballestas Islands, also known as Little Galapagos. After 15 minutes we will arrive at the enigmatic emblem of El Candelabro, where the guide explains the different theories of its origin. Then, we will continue among the rocky islands, where we will observe different marine species such as sea lions, thousands of seabirds, etc. We will return to the harbor around 10.00am.
After a short break, we will take a tour of Paracas National Park. We will visit the Interpretation Center where guide explains us everything about the fauna in the reservation. Then, we will continue the excursion to the Paracas peninsula, where we will see various desert formations created by wind, multicolored surfaces, rocky formations on the coast created by the seawater. We will also visit beautiful beaches such as Playa Yumaque, Playa Roja, Playa Lagunillas. Here we have time to have lunch on the beach and walk around. In the afternoon, we will take the bus to Huacachina and spend the night there.
DAY 3: HUACACHINA - NAZCA
We will have the opportunity to take a buggies trip through the desert dunes and to try sandboarding, and later to have lunch on the shore of the lagoon in the desert. By the afternoon bus we move to the desert town of Nazca, known for its geoglyphs (lines and desert figures). We stay in the hotel and dine in one of the local restaurants.
DAY 4: NAZCA - AREQUIPA
Optional: After the breakfast, we'll take you to María Reiche Airport where we'll take a look at informative video about mysterious lines and desert pictures before taking the flight. Then, we board a Cessna plane, 3-5 passengers, and take the desert flight. Every passenger has a guaranteed seat at the window to see the terrain. The flight takes approximately 40 minutes and during this flight we will observe desert shapes that have different shapes: condor, hummingbird, hands, cosmonaut, tree, pelican, spider, monkey, dog, whale, lizard. In addition, we will see hundreds of lines and geometric formations intersecting the local desert and reminding of huge airfields.
Optional (for those who do not want to fly) - Chauchilla Necropolis: We leave by private transport for the 27km distant city of the dead - the Chauchilla Cemetery. We can see the mummified human remains of ancient local culture along with their funeral objects. We will also visit a small local museum where children's mummies and photos of archaeological research can be seen. By night bus we will follow our journey to the city of Arequipa.
DAY 5: AREQUIPA
In the morning after arriving in Arequipa, we will be transferred to our hotel and to relax little bit after the all-night bus ride. Then, we will visit the Santa Catalina Monastery, founded in 1580. After lunch, we will visit the frozen mummy Juanita, a young Inca girl sacrificed to Gods in the Inca times.
DAY 6: AREQUIPA CITY TOUR
In the morning, we will start our visit of Arequipa known as the "White City" (the "sillar" white stone blocks of the volcanic origin were used to build the buildings). We will visit the main Square - Plaza de Armas, the Jesuit Church, Yanahuara Square, from where we will enjoy the view of the El Misti volcano, which towers over the city and other places in/in the vicinity of Arequipa.
DAY 7: AREQUIPA - COLCA CANYON - PUNO
Early in the morning, we will head out from Arequipa to Chivay, the gateway to the Colca Canyon to La Cruz del Cóndor along the road stretching the edges of the Colca Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world, measuring at 4100m in the largest depth. Several times we stop to enjoy the beautiful views of the Canyon. The guide will explain the history and present of the Canyon inhabitants. We will climb to the famous La Cruz del Cóndor - from where there is a magnificent view of the canyon and the sailing Andean Condor, the second largest terrestrial bird species. Upon returning to Chivay, we stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, we take off to Puno. We climb up to 4950 masl to the El Mirador de Los Andes, where we stop to enjoy of nearby and distant volcanoes of Arequipa department. We could also see the alpacas and vicuñas. At an altitude of 4400 masl we will have a short break at Las Lagunillas, lakes where we can see flamingos and other bird species of the Peruvian Altiplano. In the evening we arrive in the picturesque environment of Lake Titicaca in Puno. There we spend the night in the hotel.
DAY 8: PUNO - UROS - AMANTANÍ
After breakfast, we take you to the local lake harbor where a boat will be waiting for us and will bring us to one of Uros' floating reed islands. A representative of the local population will explain everything about the life of the local community and will demonstrate the construction of floating reed islands. After completing the visit to the island of Uros, we will arrive after a three-hour cruise to Amantaní Island. Here, we will be divided in to small groups, and local families will take care of us during our stay on the island. Then we will head to the top of the mountain at a height of 4,120 masl to visit two temples: Pachamama and Pachatata. After dinner, prepared by "our" family, we will go to the local "community center" and experience one evening full of local music and dances.
DAY 9: AMANTANÍ - TAQUILE - PUNO
At 8.00am, after the breakfast prepared by our "family", we will go to the harbor and after one hour of cruise we will arrive in Taquile Island. Here we will be able to explore the island and see the people of the local community well-known by the weaving fabrics and their sophisticated patterns. These hand-made cloths are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. After the lunch on the island we return to Puno after 3 hours of boat cruise and get to our hotel at approximately 4pm.
DAY 10: PUNO - CUSCO
Early in the morning we leave the Lake Titicaca and after couple of hours and stops we get to the royal city of Incas, Cusco. We will arrive around 3pm and after the accommodation we will explore the center of Cusco.
DAY 11: CUSCO
Today we will visit the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun - Qorikancha. After lunch, we will have the afternoon free to do some shopping or just relaxing.
DAY 12: SACRED VALLEY VIP
In the morning, we will go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will visit the archaeological complexes, textile workshop and art craft market in Chinchero. Upon arrival at Moray, we will be explained the origin and use of the circular terraces. At Maras, we will explore local salt mines-ponds. Then, we will stop in the city of Urubamba, where we will have lunch and continue to Ollantaytambo. Here we visit the Inca fortress, which spans the valley. After the guided tour, we will pass through the valley to Pisac and we will visit its archaeological site spread over the hillsides above the city.
DAY 13: CUSCO CITY TOUR - AGUAS CALIENTES
In the morning, we will take part in the Cusco City Tour. We will visit the Inca monuments around Cusco - Sacsayhuaman, Puca Pucara, Q'enqo, Tambomachay). After lunch and our transfer to Ollantaytambo, we will board our train to Aguas Calientes. There we dine and overnight.
DAY 14: MACHU PICCHU
Early in the morning, we'll go on a tour of the "Lost City of Incas" - Machu Picchu. We will explore its temples or climb up to the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain where we will experience an unforgettable view of Machu Picchu. In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes, where we will have lunch after which we will board the train back to Cusco.
DAY 15: OPTIONAL: HUMANTAY LAKE / THE RAINBOW MOUNTAIN / SOUTH VALLEY
